How to Sell Extra Food in Islamabad Online: A Simple Guide for Owners

The free ways, the paid ways, and a simple way to choose. No big words.

If you cook for a living, or cook very well at home, you have asked this question at least once: how do I sell my extra food in Islamabad?

It might be bread at the end of the day, a full tray of biryani, or a home kitchen that makes more than your family can eat. You search online and get a long list of answers. Some say "make a Facebook page." Some say "sign up with a big delivery app." Some say "just ask around."

Here is a plain look at each choice, so you can pick what fits your kitchen.

First: what are you selling?

The best way depends on the answer. A bakery with extra stock at 8pm needs something fast. A home chef who wants regular customers needs something steady. A cafe that wants new faces needs a way to be found. Write down your answer before you read on.

Way 1: Facebook groups and WhatsApp

This is the free way, and many people start here. Islamabad has food groups where members post what they are selling. You can also share your menu on your WhatsApp status and ask friends to forward it.

  • Good: it costs nothing. You keep full control of your price.
  • Hard: you must post again and again. Messages get lost. You answer every question yourself. New people do not always trust a stranger in a group.

Way 2: Classified sites

Some websites let you post a free ad for home-made food. Customers can find you by searching.

  • Good: free and easy to start.
  • Hard: no one checks the kitchen, so buyers may hesitate. There is no payment inside the site. Your ad sinks down the page as others post.

Way 3: Big delivery apps

Large delivery apps bring many customers. But they usually ask for business documents, and approval takes time. They are built for restaurants. A home kitchen often does not fit their rules. This is exactly what many home cooks write when they ask for help online.

  • Good: a lot of customers.
  • Hard: paperwork, waiting, and rules that suit big restaurants more than small kitchens.

Way 4: Your own page or Instagram

A simple page with good photos and your phone number can work well over time.

  • Good: it is yours. Your regular customers stay with you.
  • Hard: it takes months to build. It is slow for food that must sell today.

Way 5: A local deals app, like SastaKhana

SastaKhana is made for the end-of-day problem. You list what you have, set your own price and choose a pickup time. Customers nearby reserve in the app and collect from your counter.

  • You set the price. We never set it for you.
  • Pickup only for now. You do not need a rider. Delivery may be added later, depending on demand, insha'Allah.
  • 0% commission for your first 30 days. See the full terms on the Partner Terms page.
  • Restaurants, bakeries and cafes can list fresh deals and same-day surplus. Home chefs list freshly made food only, never surplus food. More here.
  • Home chefs are welcome. We ask for an ID and photos of your kitchen and your food, so customers can trust you. Here is why.
  • Our Islamabad team helps you start: in person, by email at partner@sastakhana.com, or through the List My Business form on our website.

SastaKhana is new, and we are building it together with our first partners in Islamabad. If you sell a lot every day, you can use SastaKhana alongside your other ways. Many kitchens do exactly that, and it works well.

"How do I start a food business in Pakistan?"

Many people also search this. We are not lawyers, so we will not give legal advice. What we can say: rules for food businesses depend on your area and on what you sell. Before you start, check what your local food authority asks for. Keep your kitchen clean, label what you sell, and never sell food you would not eat yourself.

A simple way to choose

  • Food that must sell today: a local deals app or a WhatsApp message to your regulars.
  • Regular weekly customers: your own page plus WhatsApp.
  • Many customers, big kitchen: a delivery app, and keep one more way as backup.
